Ceremonial Declarations Requests

At his discretion, Mayor Wissman may issue ceremonial declarations for noteworthy events that deserve special recognition, such as Proclamations and Letters of Honor or Recognition.

Purpose: Ceremonial declarations are intended to:
- recognize actions or service above and beyond the call of duty,
- recognize extraordinary achievements,
- support actions that improve the life of the Arlington community, or
- raise public awareness of issues that directly affect the Arlington community.

Request Process: To submit a request - simply fill out the Request form below. Due to the time required to process a request, your request must be submitted at least 30 days prior, but no more than three (3) months prior, to the event or due date.

The Mayor’s Office handles as many requests as possible; however, priority is given to requests from Town residents and organizations. These public service documents are a courtesy to the requestor, are strictly honorary and are not legally binding. All requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. The Mayor reserves the right to decline any request or to make exception to those guidelines.
