On March 20th, 2020, Governor Bill Lee signed Executive Order 16 suspending in part the Tennessee Open Meetings Act and allowing municipal governments like Arlington, the ability to alter the procedures for having public meetings and to conduct municipal business in the interest of protecting the health, safety and welfare of Tennesseans in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Town of Arlington public meetings including any advertised public hearings until further notice will be limited in accordance with state, federal and CDC guidelines for public gatherings. Any citizen wishing to speak on a matter for which a public hearing is advertised has the option of submitting a written statement to the Town Recorder by email to bowens@townofarlington.org or in writing  mailed to PO Box 507 Arlington, TN 38002 which will be read into and made a part of the record at the public hearing in lieu of making the statement in person.

If you wish to attend meetings, the following guidelines will be enforced:

  • Temperatures will be checked at the door
  • Face masks will be required
  • Distance of 6 Feet between others will be strictly adhered to
  •  The meeting will be limited to 50% capacity of the room

During Public Hearings along with Grievances and Comments from citizens, Town Staff will ensure capacity limits are met and are prepared to escort citizens in and out of the room as needed to ensure safety is the top priority.
