Library Calendar of Events

We have special programs and events each month at the Library. Our monthly calendars help keep you informed (links in blue buttons to download). Check our new calendar each month OR check out our Library Facebook Page.

Programs occur Monday-Thursday, and on Saturdays. The Library is closed on Fridays & Sundays.

"Color Our World" 2025 Summer Reading Program

It’s that time again! Our 2025 Summer Reading Program theme is “Color Our World!” Help us celebrate the myriad of ways in which art enriches our lives. Our program is designed to inspire and engage readers of all ages. Visit us throughout the summer for the exciting programs we have planned. FOAM PARTIES, TIE DYE PARTIES, & MORE!

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

For ages 0-5

It's never too early to start reading! Register your baby or toddler for the 1,000 Books Challenge on ReadSquared. This program is designed to help children read 1,000 books before they enter Kindergarten and encourage life-long reading habits. Once you've earned enough points, you'll receive a completion certificate you can print and share!

Summer Reading Kick Off : Foam Party!

Saturday, May 31st from 1:00-3:00 pm (@ Douglas Park near Arlington Elementary)

Kick-off the summer with us at Douglas Park! Bring your swimsuit to play in the bubbles and celebrate the beginning of our Summer Reading Program!

Art to Grow with the Dixon Art Gallery!

Thursday, June 5th at 11:00 (@ the safe room)

Visitors from the Dixon Art Gallery will join us on June 5th at 11:00 for a colorful art program for ages 5-12. We will make a woven burlap tapestry inspired by artist Claire Deikie's works.

Chalk the Walk!

Saturday, June 14th at 11:00 (@ Douglas Park near Arlington Elementary)

Indian Dance Workshop with Kumar School of Arts

Saturday, June 14th at 2:00 (@ the safe room)

Come learn about another part of the world! On June 14th, we will learn about India, learn traditional dances and hand movements, and more! This program will be presented by Kumar School of Arts.

Shelby Forest Park Ranger Visit!

Thursday, June 19th at 11:00 (@ the safe room)

The library will have a special visit from a Shelby Forest Park Ranger! Come learn about the world around you and maybe meet an animal friend! For kids of all ages.

Tie Dye Palooza!

Saturday, June 21st from 12:00-2:00 (@ the library)

Stop by the library to make a colorful tie dye creation! Just bring what you want to dye and we will provide the rest of the supplies. Don't miss out on a couple of hours of tie dye fun!

Preschool Storytime!

10:30 am on Tuesdays.

LA HORA DE CUENTOS

Every Tuesday we enjoy stories, songs, counting, dancing, and a great way for parent interaction with your little one.

The program is designed to build early language & literacy foundations in toddlers and pre-school children ages 5 and under.

We also sneak in lots of early literacy and social skill building. See more for English here. and Spanish here.

Summer story times are on Tuesdays at 10:30 at the safe room.

Storytime with author Becky Thomas & Arlington Fire Department!

Help us kick-off our summer storytime series with local author, Becky Thomas and Arlington firefighters! Hear Becky Thomas' new book, Roscoe and the Community Helpers Never Give Up, from the author and community helpers themselves! We will also do a craft after storytime.

Help us celebrate summer reading program! Pick a page from your favorite coloring book or help us color our summer reading banner. We will provide coloring books and materials that will appeal to all family members.

Builder's Club

Come build with us! Test your LEGO skills and build with friends. Every Thursday before STEM, we will play building games, do challenges, or free build!

S.T.E.M. Thursdays

Your local library is the place that offers exploration and discovery: S.T.E.M.

Book Club for Adults

This book chat is for all adult ages to share about our current book selection, what you're currently reading, or what you've read.

We encourage sharing all reviews and suggestions for other members of the group. Great way to reconnect, meet people, make new friends, and add great book ideas to your reading list.

Adult Book Club is the last Wednesday of every month at 1:30.
