When does the Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BMA) meet?
Board of Mayor and Aldermen meetings are held on the 1st Monday of each month, at 6:30pm in the Board Chambers at Town Hall (5854 Airline Road).
Any exceptions to schedule due to holidays or other reasons will be posted on the Town website prior to the meeting.
Can I attend a BMA meeting?
Yes, members of the public are welcome and encouraged to attend BMA meetings.
Is there an opportunity to speak at a BMA meeting?
Yes, citizens are given an opportunity to address the BMA, without prior notification, during the "Citizens Comments" portion of the Board meetings.
Upon recognition by the Mayor, members of the public may address the Board and are given three (3) minutes to speak on any non-agenda item. You must begin your comments to the Board by stating your name and address for the record. As this is not a question and answer opportunity, the Board may or may not respond to any questions asked at this time or later during the meeting.
Some items brought before the BMA will also include Public Hearings. These items will include a 'public comment' period where interested parties may speak on the item being discussed. Again, you may speak upon recognition by the Mayor and shall begin by stating your name and address for the record.
Please contact the Town Recorder at Town Hall if you have any questions on this topic.
